Carmen Herrera, Julian Opie and Lawrence Weiner collaborate with Artist Plates for The Coalition for the Homeless

16 November 2020

Available to purchase now through 15 December 2020, the Artist Plate Project presents limited edition plates designed by 50 world-renowned artists to raise funds for New York's Coalition for the Homeless – the oldest advocacy and direct service organization in the US helping individuals and families experiencing homelessness. In lieu of this year’s annual ARTWALK NY event, which was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Artist Plate Project was created to support the important work of the Coalition, with all of the funds going towards providing food, crisis services, housing, and other critical aid to thousands of people experiencing homelessness and instability. The purchase of one plate – out of an edition of 175 per design – can feed 75 homeless and hungry New Yorkers. Julian Opie's 'Running plate.' and Lawrence Weiner's 'ME + YOU & WE' are new designs created for the project, while Carmen Herrera's 'Iberic' draws on the artist's 1949 painting of the same name.
