Curator Nicola Simpson, an expert in Houédard’s life and work, gives an introduction to this countercultural artist, beatnik and Benedictine monk, one of the leading theorists and practitioners of 1960s concrete poetry, as well a theologian of multiple religions. Simpson also gives a tour of her exhibition, ''Dom Sylvester Houédard: tantric poetries' which gives context to Houédard’s merging of art and philosophy through visual poetry, with specific reference to his use of Buddhist and Tantric practices.
