Lisson Gallery returns to New York Art Book Fair

3 October 2022

Lisson Gallery is excited to return to Printed Matter’s New York Art Book Fair from 13 – 16 October, 2022. The presentation contains new books published by the gallery this year as well as a selection of backlist titles.

A highlight of the booth is A Melted Snowman by Ryan Gander, and designed by David Reinfurt. Published in September, 2022, the book asks; How do we know if a melted snowman ever existed? Was it a rumour? These questions are referenced when considering the last show by Gander in New York at Lisson Gallery in 2020 – These are the markers of our time – staged at a time when the artist could not travel to the show in person. A Melted Snowman combines Ryan's writings, interviews and commissioned essays with a conceptually interesting design. The new monograph also features a close reading of Gander’s body of work by Guggenheim curator Katharine Brinson, a conversation between Gander and Sohrab Mohebbi of Sculpture Center, and analysis by Ossian Ward.

This year Lisson Gallery has also published a new catalogue with Olga de Amaral, coinciding with the artist’s solo exhibition in London, on view 23 September – 29 October, 2022. The book tracks Amaral’s inaugural shows with the gallery in New York and London and features a recent interview conducted by Hans Ulrich Oberist and an essay on her practice by Susan Alberth, curator and professor at Bard College. The Amaral catalogue is presented alongside a new monograph for Joanna Pousette-Dart’s first London exhibition with Lisson Gallery. Featuring eassays by art historians Nancy Princenthal and Pepe Karmel, the catalogue frames her work through the diverse landscapes, artists and location that have inspired her.

Lisson Gallery’s presentation at the NY Art Book Fair will also include books concerning the work of John Akomfrah, Dan Graham, Carmen Herrera, Liu Xiaodong, Hélio Oiticica, Laure Prouvost and Leon Polk Smith, as well as the landmark publication, ARTIST | WORK | LISSON, commemorating the gallery’s 50th anniversary in 2017. During the run of the fair, the gallery will be offering discounts on books through the webshop. Updates will be published on the Lisson Gallery social media channels.
