Carmen Herrera
London, 24 September – October 2026
This September, Lisson London presents a focused exhibition of works by Carmen Herrera, curated by Marie Perennès. Celebrated for her crisp lines, geometric forms and contrasting chromatic planes, Herrera spent more than 80 years refining a visual language rooted in precision, balance and reduction. Bringing together paintings, works on paper and Estructuras created in the last decade of her career, the exhibition considers these works not as a late epilogue, but as the moment when her lifelong exploration of line, colour and proportion reaches its fullest expression. Through subtle shifts in scale, orientation and rhythm, Herrera generates movement and spatial tension with remarkable economy of means. The exhibition highlights the vitality and innovation of her late practice, revealing how these works continue to challenge and expand the possibilities of modernist abstraction.
