Mary Corse and Carmen Herrera feature in exhibition at CAB Brussels

10 July 2020

Fondation CAB in Brussels has opened the group exhibition, 'Figures on a Ground: Perspective on Minimal Art', featuring the work of Mary Corse and Carmen Herrera alongside 15 pioneering and contemporary women artists. Departing from core Minimalist themes of abstraction, geometric form and simplicity, the exhibition explores the various ways in which these artists respond to and challenge the foundations of Minimalism, refusing a singular definition while working with the language of its essential characteristics.

Mary Corse's Untitled (White Inner Band) (2019) and La Fonteyn (2015) by Carmen Herrera are works which exemplify the themes and materials that have informed both artists' work for decades – for Corse, a play with our perception of light through layers of paint with reflective glass microspheres, and Herrera's bold geometric compositions which more recently combine one bright colour with vast areas of black.

'Figures on a Ground' runs until 12 December 2020. Find further information here.
