Laure Prouvost artwork included in Whitechapel Gallery Art Icon Benefit Auction

Laure Prouvost’s painted sign work ‘IDEALLY THIS POSTER WOULD SHOW YOU THE WAY’ (2019) is included in the Whitechapel Gallery Art Icon 2020 Benefit Auction, taking place on 21 January. The 2020 Art Icon Award in partnership with the Swarovski Foundation honours the lifetime achievement of Francis Alÿs, and funds raised by the auction will support Whitechapel Gallery’s education and community programmes.This work draws on the materials and language used throughout Prouvost's 2019 commission for Transport for London's Art on the Underground initiative. The city-wide series of printed and digital posters infiltrated advertising sites across all 270 London Underground stations from June to December, and was bookended by major installations in the East and West of the city at Heathrow and Stratford stations.
