New installation by Haroon Mirza at 2020 Dhaka Art Summit

8 February 2020

The 2020 Dhaka Art Summit in Dhaka, Bangladesh, titled 'Seismic Movements', brings together works by more than 500 artists over four floors of the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy. Encouraging us to reconsider art histories, movement, borders and fault lines, this year's Summit centres around one thematic question: what is a movement and how do we ignite one beyond the confines of an art exhibition?

Haroon Mirza presents Lessons in Theology (2019/2020) a new sound and light installation work created specially for DAS, developing Mirza's recent use of glass and LED chandeliers as the centre point in his immersive works and features the multi-media player entitled Emerging Paradigm Device created by the artist's hrm199 Ltd. This multi-media player allows users to synchronise up to 4 videos and 24 channels of electrical signals to generate sounds and light simultaneously.

DAS 2020 is free to attend and open to the public, and runs from 7–15 February.
