Masaomi Yasunaga
London, November 2023 – January 2024

Following his first exhibition in New York at Lisson Gallery in 2022, Japanese sculptor Masaomi Yasunaga presents a new body of experimental work for the gallery’s London space this Autumn. Yasunaga is known for his unconventional vessel forms, using glaze as the primary material and layering on raw materials from rocks to metal and glass, which he displays on beds of gravel. A student of the avant-garde ceramicist Satoru Hoshino, Yasunaga’s practice stems from a re-evaluation of the ceramic tradition, focusing on emotion and sentiment over pure function.
