This photograph was taken at Franz West's exhibition 'Konversation' in 1994, in which viewers were invited to pick up and pose with the artist's sculpture. 

Carl Freedman writes: "collaboration is an important aspect of West's work, involving a familiar desire to open up the creative process and involve other artists in production, to refuse an autonomous status for the art object, and to break down the passive role of the viewer."
