Hugh Hayden's first solo institutional show opens this month at Princeton University Art Museum

9 January 2020

Hugh Hayden’s first solo institutional exhibition entitled Creation Myths opens at the Princeton University Art Museum with an opening celebration of curator and artist-led tours from 1-4pm on Saturday 18 January. The presentation will feature brand new works in wood and cast iron as well as Hayden’s 2018 mesquite and plywood installation America.

A new work, Moses, consisting of an updated cotton picking machine clad in Mahogany to look like Chippendale-style highboy dresser or grandfather clock, will be on view alongside a new series of Hayden’s cast iron skillets. Working with objects in the Museum’s collection and a 3D modeler, Hayden created 3D scans of various items that were then combined to create unique configurations and turned into moulds for these new skillets.

On Thursday 20 February, a talk between Hayden and professor Chika Okeke-Agulu will take place from 5-6:30pm at Princeton’s McCosh Hall.

Creation Myths continues through 7 June, 2020. More information can be found here.
