Tim Lee
Remakes, Variations (1741-2092) - Tim Lee: Works (2001-08)
2008Description
The themes in Tim Lee's work invoke that of other creators and performers across increasingly infinite timelines. With sources that range from Johann Sebastian Bach to Glenn Gould, and Peter Sellers to Steve Martin, in ‘Remakes, Variations (1741-2092)’, Lee suggestively interpolates himself with the history of his subjects by loosely reconstructing specific works associated with their creators; and, in so doing, maps out an extended timeline that travels from the historical past to the imagined future. Featuring essays by Jörg Heiser, Jens Hoffman, Tim Lee, Monika Szewczyk and Michael Turner. Edited by Reid Shier. Published on the occasion of the exhibition ‘Tim Lee: Remakes, Variations (1741-2049)’, at Presentation House Gallery, 18 November 2007 – 13 January 2008 and Illingworth Kerr Gallery 18 September – 13 December 2008.
