Background
Digital at the Lisson Gallery is a newly realised department. The department is responsible for Knowledge Management, Information Technology, Digital Futures and the photo library.
The Department’s vision is to promote best practice and innovation while representing the interests of the Gallery.
Knowledge management includes:
• Content management including establishing models for preserving and sustaining digital content
• Legal & ethical implications of managing data
• Documentation standards
• Database theory & data modelling
• Client management and the museum strategy.
Information Technology, systems & maintenance includes the:
• IT infrastructure including hardware, software and network services
• Desktop phones and mobiles
• Collection database administration
• Digital asset management.
Digital Futures includes research and advice on:
• New media technologies and systems
• Social media and Internet presence
• Information networks & heritage
• Metadata tagging.
Archives
• Photo Library including transparencies, slides and digital files and their management
• AV archive.
Position Overview
The Lisson Gallery is seeking a technology specialist who will help shape and execute the gallery’s technology vision and online presence. This staff member will participate in multiple projects as well as perform IT support and training for the gallery including desk and mobile phones. Video projects will include filming and preparing HD and web ready video content for the Lisson website, press and social media accounts.
Key priorities of the role include:
• On a daily basis perform IT solutions and training (including computers, servers, networks, printers, phones and AV equipment)
• Work with the external IT consultants to troubleshoot and maintain IT hardware and software
• Proactively suggest improved technology methods to improve work practices and streamline workflow
• Assist in implementing IT security requirements
• Assist the Head of Digital with the Digital Asset Management project
• Work with the Head of Digital on social media, new media and internet presence projects
• Responsible for the AV database and equipment
• Fabricate new AV artwork and exhibition copy DVDs
• Work with the Lisson Archivist on the Lisson Archive Project.

• Ability to take the lead in your specialist area and be a constructive and supportive team member
• Excellent communication skills with a speciality in communicating IT concepts
• Experience in or ability to demonstrate an aptitude for the development and delivery of training
• Proven ability to work with a wide range of staff across a whole organisation
• Ability to effectively prioritise task load and work independently work unsupervised
IT:
• A broad knowledge of servers, networking, and IT functions and protocols
• Experience in working in a Mac environment
• Experience in creating and editing video footage including re-purposing projects
• Self-motivated with an interest in learning new applications and systems.

Lisson Gallery is currently looking for an intern to contribute to a research-based project within its curatorial department. The internship offers successful candidates the opportunity to develop a focused project, to research and gain knowledge on institutions and museum collections worldwide, as well as to learn about the curatorial department of Lisson Gallery, and an overall understanding of the gallery's role within the Contemporary art world.
Three to six months
Skills/Competencies Required:
- Outstanding research skills
- Computer skills and management of information
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Fluency in English
- Methodical and attentive to detail
- A Team player, with an enthusiastic and proactive attitude
- Degree/MA in Art History, Curating or Museum Studies preferable
Conditions of the internship programme:
Interns will be offered a three to six-month period, with an initial one month probationary period at the beginning of the programme. Travel expenses and lunch are provided, as well as tea, coffee and soft drinks.

Lisson Gallery offers full-time and part-time non-paid internships. The programme provides students, graduate students, and beginning professionals with practical work experience and in-depth training in the gallery profession. It offers successful candidates the opportunity to spend six months working full time with a department, gaining insight into all functions of Lisson Gallery, and an overall understanding of the gallery's role within the Contemporary art world.
Skills/Competencies Required:
- Basic administration skills
- Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Basic Computer skills (Word/Excel/Outlook)
- Fluency in English
- A Team player, with an enthusiastic and proactive attitude
- Flexibility
- An art education/background is also preferable
Conditions of the internship programme:
Interns will be offered a six-month period, with an initial one month probationary period at the beginning of the programme. It is possible to renew the programme once, with a maximum internship of one year. Travel expenses and lunch are provided, as well as tea, coffee and soft drinks.
Choice of department:
The intern will start with a brief orientation of the gallery's structure, after which each participant will be assigned to a specific department depending on their background and position availability. A basic prerequisite for all candidates should be a level of flexibility. Regardless of placement, each successful candidate will gain an overall insight to the work of Lisson Gallery.
