Daniele Puppi

Artist Cv

As an art of both space and time, video succeeds in telling us something interesting only when the artist can affect our perception of these dimensions in fresh, even disruptive ways. Through his understanding of spatial proportions and harmonics, Puppi's work transforms the elements of the architectural surroundings into expanded sensorial experiences, subverting conventional notions of time and space. His videos, with their strongly disorientating spatial and sound effects, are always unsettling, and demand a physical participation on the part of the public. The concept of space expressed by Puppi is always dynamic, and the work activates potential energies of the space by placing them under tension. For the artist, every space is a reality with a life of its own, an essence to be perceived. In itself, a room is a reservoir of forces in latent movement, and any unexpected shift can unleash its unexpressed qualities and characteristics.

Daniele Puppi lives and works in Rome and London.
